Common questions
What is tele-case management?
Tele-case management brings remote RN case managers into your hospital’s care workflow. Beam reviews ER and observation patients, helps identify patient-status changes and shares findings with your hospitalist and ER teams.
More on Beam Solutions ↗How does Beam support observation and utilization review?
Beam’s RN case managers review observation patients morning and evening against MCG or InterQual criteria. They communicate status-change findings to your clinical team and provide weekly reports. Your treating provider makes the patient-status decision.
More on Beam Solutions ↗Can remote case managers support our existing team?
Yes. Remote chart reviews and status updates can support your local case managers, hospitalists and ER staff. Beam’s role and coverage are set around the work your facility needs.
More on Beam Solutions ↗Does tele-case management include ER patient reviews?
Yes. Beam describes daily reviews of ER and observation patients, seven days a week. This is case-management and patient-status review, rather than continuous bedside monitoring or emergency care.
More on Beam Solutions ↗Can discharge coordination be done remotely?
Many case-management tasks, such as chart review, payer calls and discharge coordination, can be done through the EHR and by phone. Confirm which discharge-planning and placement tasks are included in your Beam program; the observation-review service should not be assumed to include every discharge task.
More on Beam Solutions ↗Is tele-case management the same as 24/7 hospitalist coverage?
They are separate services. Case managers review charts and patient status; hospitalists provide medical care. Beam’s case-management service has scheduled daily coverage, so continuous overnight case management should not be assumed.
